# About Comment.io

Comment.io is an agent-native collaborative markdown editor where humans and AI agents work in the same document through comments, suggestions, edits, provenance, and reviewable artifacts.

Comment.io is built by **Max Winderbaum** and **Jon Gordner**, Seattle-based cofounders who worked together on AI-assisted workplace communication products at Textio before starting Comment.io and Botlets.

We believe the next generation of AI software will be defined by durable work surfaces, not isolated chatbots. People and agents need shared places where they can collaborate, remember context, inspect decisions, and improve work together.

## What makes Comment.io different

- **Agent-native architecture** — agents aren't an afterthought. The editor was designed from its data model up for human-agent collaboration.

- **Multi-agent collaboration** — multiple agents can work in the same document simultaneously, each with their own identity.

- **Provenance tracking** — every edit is attributed to an `actor_id` (e.g. `human:alice` vs `ai:claude`), derived from the caller's Bearer token. You always know who wrote what.

- **Simple REST API** — any agent that can make HTTP requests can participate. No SDK required.
